GROUNDS

The farm is completely fenced off, and the entrance to the farm is via a large remote controlled gate. The house is approached via a long drive, which goes past 2 x 2 bedroom self contained apartments, the upper apartment now fondly named margic after our first 2 residents marge and eric

 
   

To the right of the drive are the barns and outbuildings where nowadays we store
logs and farm tools etc  although in the past they were used as servants quarters

as well as to house cattle, goats, and chickens in fact one room is still set aside for our own free range chickens which provide our breakfast eggs

The farm has in excess of 2000 trees consisting of lemons, mandarins, olives and oranges. 

There is also a good sprinkling of grapes, figs, avocado, grapefruit, pears, prickly pears, bergamot, pomegranates, peach, cherry, nectarine, quince, mulberry, plum, apricot, walnuts and almonds. 

 

 During the summer months, you will also see numerous tortoises wandering around in their natural habitat as well as our chickens / hedgehogs, various birds etc 
 

Chateau Carman

  Is a large newly built house comfortably accommodating 12 adults with six double bedrooms and four bathrooms, all bedrooms and lounge are fully air conditioned apart from the top floor which has a number of floor fans 
the ground floor has a large lounge area with an ornate fireplace, it has an open plan large modern kitchen, that is equipped with a cooker a dish washer a large fridge freezer a toaster and a kettle

All windows have a mosquito screen as well as shutters
there is also a double bedroom on the ground floor with en suite shower, toilet etc this room is furnished with 2 single beds as well as a wardrobe / draws
the basement consists of 3 large rooms a toilet shower and is set aside for staff ironing and linen storage etc 

The first floor consists of a very large master bed room with en suite bathroom it has its own balcony overlooking farmland and the lake, the terrace is furnished with coffee table and chairs  

 This room also has another door which leads out onto another large balcony which interconnects with the back bedroom and overlooks the large swimming pool and the barbecue area. this is also furnished with a coffee table and chairs









 

There are a further two bedrooms, and one bathroom all looking out onto the surrounding farmland and mountain views.

The top floor consists of one large floor area with views all around.  It has a bedroom area with an open area leading onto the large covered terrace overlooking the surrounding mountains and farmland together with beautiful distant views of the lake Koycegiz, the top floor also has en suite facilities

 

There is a further 2 x 2 bedroom separately built self contained apartments purposely built for the small family or group these each contain 2 bedrooms a lounge a bathroom toilet and a kitchen / dining room they will each sleep 4 to 6 people

The swimming pool is 10 x 15 meters, it is one meter deep at the shallow end and 1.7 meters at the deep end, it has its own terrace area with lounges, along with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains 


 
this area is also equipped with a water chiller as well as a kettle, a 4 burner cooker and a fridge / freezer.
under the granite worktop there are numerous storage cupboards and draws
  
Château carman is staffed by a groundsman whose job is to look after the swimming pool as well as tending to the trees and pathways, and general maintenance

 There is also a maid who looks after changing of linen every 3 days etc  she also prepares a prearranged typical Turkish breakfast by the poolside which is not included in the cost, this can consist of hard boiled eggs, fresh bread,honey, marmalade, jam, butter, cheese  olives ,tomatoes, cucumber, tea, and fresh orange juice        

             There is also always at least one member of my family at hand 

Tours

Take a tour of lake Koycegiz, where you will see the ruins of ancient caunos, Sultaniye thermal  and mud baths are thermal springs, which have health benefits for different skin and muscle problems.( but beware do not stay in the water longer than 15 minutes, come out for 5 minutes and then go back)

And then through the fishing weirs onto the Mediterranean sea where you will encounter Turtle Beach.

the 3 or 6 day tours can be arranged to suit your requirements eg on alternate days etc

Marmaris is only a 45 minute drive from Koycegiz, which is where you will be able to spend the day  shopping in air conditioned shopping centers,

 and find a large range of jewelery, clothes, souvenirs' and food.  As well as restaurants, bars, water-sports and boat trips, which take place during the day and in the evenings,

where you will be entertained with singers and belly dancing and during the trip you will be served a good meal.

One of the things I most look forward to upon arrival in Turkey is a visit to one of the many barbers shops in and around koycegiz where you will get a haircut and wash plus a shave and a massage

 it is absolutely unforgettable and all for around about £4 including a tip

Or for the ladies hairstyling, bleach or color and manicure and a pedicure as well as a massage that you will never forget all for a fraction of the cost in the  UK, my wife disappears for 5 hours on these occasions 

 

you can catch a taxi or a bus (dolmus these run every half hour and are extremely cheap) to nearby Ortaca, where you can shop in their immense variety of shops or to Dalyan.

we can also arrange a mini bus to collect you from and return you to our farm
We can prearrange mountain treks / or hiring of bikes for you or you can visit a variety of fresh fish restaurants by the lakeside

 There is a restaurant where seating is arranged over a ice cold fast flowing river, which is crystal clear, and you will be served a fish meal or a Tandir kebab with salad and drinks of your choice.

Monday is market day, when all the locals do their shopping and you can get all your needs from here,  ranging from, fresh, locally grown fruit and vegetables, to fresh fish.



 

You can also find, locally produced cheeses and even livestock. During the appropriate season you can buy wild mushrooms.

I  personally enjoy going to one of the local cafés in the center of town for a tripe soup with a good helping of   vinegar and garlic sauce. This not only warms you but it helps me to have a really good nights sleep and its excellent for hangovers.

Of course you can opt for one of the many other soups on the menu such as kebab soup or pacha or lentil to name but a few  and all made fresh daily on the premises.

You can book château carman for a large family holiday, or a group of friends or just a small group in one of our 2 bedroom apartments

Château carman is unfortunately not suitable for the wheel chair bound and for the very young although we would do our utmost to help
